This project is really a partnering project. You are directly involved in the creative process although we are doing the development. Once the website is operational, you will be the one keeping it updated using a simple internal administrative panel and simple editor.

Here’s what you get for that $1995:

We can also provide, at additional cost, extended features such as a shopping cart, extended SEO, social networking consultation, and more if you need these..

You provide the layout selection, graphics & photos, and the content for each section of the layout. We take it from there.

The entire remainder of the $1995 must be paid within 30 days of the deposit.

After the deposit is paid, you will begin to get multiple emails with directions for that step of the plan. The time to complete the website and take it live depends on how long it takes you to select the layout and get your contents to us.

The flow diagram for the process of building the site has a simple analogy. You will be using a professional layout that you choose from the layout selections we provide. Here are the basic ones we suggest. More are available. You also choose your domain name, which cannot duplicate any existing domain name. We use our default host unless you request otherwise. That entire layout is up and available in only a few days. We will then be “pouring” the content you send us into the layout. The entire system is modular. You can (and probably will) change the layout you selected and your contents before you go live. That is the tremendous advantage of this content-management system (CMS) approach. You are focused on your content and message, not the technology or programming.

Notice a lot of this depends on getting the content and graphics reaching us quickly. If you have any existing site, this is often easy. Otherwise, it may take longer. The commitment is necessary, however, as we need the final payment at the 30 day point even if we continue to load your content and graphics beyond this.

After the initial loading and the site goes live, you are responsible for updating content and graphics. There is no special coding necessary. Different areas of the layout are controlled from widgets. After the initial setup, you can create and edit the pages using a simple internal editor, and then you use the widgets to map the pages to the corresponding  page area defined by your story-boarding.

If using an existing host: It must be using Apache software, PHP 5.0 or later, and have MySQL version 4.0 or later. We can often use parts of your existing content, including images, videos and animations. If at all possible, use the same domain name and your current host. It will mean, however, that the old website will be down for a short while. For our own business website here, we were down for less that a day with the transition done on a weekend. We will work with you to minimize this time.

If you do not have an existing web site, we can provide a qualifying hosting and domain name at no extra charge for Econoweb sites. We will set up the hosting with the existing domain name.

NOTE: This is a partnership development. You are providing with content and related material using guidelines we propose. You can easily change your content and many aspects of the layout later. We begin as soon as you provide the deposit (see next section), an available domain name you wish to use, and select the layout from our extensive list. If you currently have a host and domain name, we can work with you on using that if you wish. Our primary goal in this initial time is to help you learn how to manage the site yourself without needing programing skills.  Read the FAQ page for more information.

The Next Step

To get us started, you will need to make an initial deposit of $500. This can be paid by PayPal or check. Several things are purchased for this web site once this is deposited.

You will then need to email us the domain name and the id you wish to use for your account, for example: carltown

We will need this to set up the hosting. PayPal will acknowledge the transaction. We will generally acknowledge the hosting is live within 2 business days.

Pay by Postal Mail

If you wish to mail us the deposit check we will acknowledge as soon as the check clears.

NOTE: This processes your payment through a third-party company (PayPal) quickly and reliably. We are a verified member of PayPal, which means your payment is protected by them. If for any reason this fails to process, mail the check check or money order to Oregon Professional Microsystems, 8325 SW Mohawk #48, Tualatin, OR 97062. We will email you directions for the next step immediately.

We will then send you the form for the information we need to design your site. You can then begin to begin to work with us on the design. All of the site does not need to be finished before sending use your material, but you should have the layout with the web site menu completed – the basic framework for your site – before sending us material.

Note: Since this is a content management website and system, you will find it easy to change the content and graphics later as well as to correct spelling and grammar. Initially during development on a new site, the search engines will not see your site. Our purpose is to help you set up the initial site and then you manage it from there while providing support. The site does not go live until that final payment is made. You should normally plan to complete  the initial website and get it live in 3-4 weeks or less. In other words, you should have the $1995 before you start. Most of your time will be involved in defining the content and graphics.

Technical Notes

The Econoweb web sites do not use templates. These are often inexpensive, but poorly designed and inefficient in the search engines. You really can’t see the quality of a template until after you are using it – and then it’s to late. The templates are also expensive to update and modify.

We use a series of multiple products that give a website that is highly reliable, professional quality, cross-browser compatibility and and easy to update and maintain. This site is an example of that. Our Protect Tualatin Parks website helped our PAC win a city charter amendment against heavy opposition.

Our back-end for our sites is the familiar WordPress product. This is a highly reliable open-source system used by thousands. It supports both the static pages and the blog posts. For documentation on how to use your website, all you need is a book on WordPress from your bookstore or Amazon.com. There’s a good Dummies book for it.

To make WordPress work, we must add add a theme that controls the layout, of which thousands are available on the Internet. Many of these WordPress themes are free. Free, however, does not guarantee any quality, and we’ve had bad themes we’ve tried to use.   To solve this, we add a commercial and professional-quality framework to WordPress. Then we add a commercial and professional quality child theme, or skin, on top of the framework. This gives you a beautiful website of professional quality that is ready for your content and detail layout customizing.

With the Econoweb, we’ve done beautiful websites in a week at very little cost or time.
